About

My name is Hunter, and this is where I’m going to write and post about anything I want to.  Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I am proud of my roots and my home.

As for education, I got my diploma from Ocean Springs High School and my Bachelor’s Degree from Ole Miss.  Yep, I did The Grove thing, and it was the most amazing experience of my life (so far).  It’s where I met my gorgeous wife and became the man I am today.

I’m also a HUGE sports guy (if you hadn’t figured it out yet).  Baseball and Football are my loves.  I’m a sucker for nostalgia and traditions, so the SEC and it’s pageantry will forever captivate my imagination.  I particularly enjoy the aesthetic side of things like uniforms, logos, hats, shoes, sideline polos, the whole nine.  My loyalties are pretty simple to follow, too, if you pay attention.

Though I was born and raised in the ‘Sip, my family is split when it comes to teams.  Paternally they love the Tigers (from the Bayou, that’s LSU) & The Bulldogs (Mississippi State, don’t even get me started) and I never could stomach either.  Maternally they love the Tide (Alabama) and the other Tigers (from Auburn) because my Mom is from Alabama.  So, I picked a side, and from that beginning I’ve been a loyal Crimson Tide die-hard.  That all changed when I went to school.

Now, I’ve sort of established a weird following of teams.  Growing up in proximity to New Orleans, the Saints are my first love (I’ve got my own paper-bag to prove it).  Alabama’s my day one, too, but then my degree made me a Rebel.  I met my wife there, and she’s from Georgia, and this is where you need to pay attention.  Her family are Bulldogs.  Remember back when I said I love tradition and nostalgia?  Well, it doesn’t get any better than UGA.  Couple that with her families overwhelming acceptance and welcome to all things Peach State and Athens, and you can now count me as a DGD (that’s what they say).  Follow still?  Good, there’s more.  As I said, Baseball is one of my loves.  I’m a 90’s kid, southern boy, so of course I grew up choppin’ with the Braves, and it only worked out perfect that I landed my Atlanta girl.

As is usually the case, I’ve gotten older and acquired a taste for some of the finer things in life including the occasional craft beer, good bourbon, golf, and watching basketball and soccer.  That’s where my other two pro squads have recently come into my fandom in the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta United FC.

So lets recap:  Coast boy, Ole Miss alum, adopted by the Peach State, sports fandom of a random assortment of teams that we can list here for you visual people out there like me.

  1. New Orleans Saints (Lifetimer)
  2. Atlanta Braves (Lifetimer)
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide (Childhood)
  4. Ole Miss Rebels (Undergrad)
  5. Georgia Bulldogs (Adopted into the Family)
  6. Atlanta Hawks (Acquired)
  7. Atlanta United FC (Acquired)

Simple enough right?  That’s pretty much me as concise as I can be.
